Our Story

Hey! My name is Mary Magovern, I am 16 years old, and I founded Project Skincare when I was 14. My mom is Ashley Magovern, a dermatologist and owner of Manhattan Dermatology. I was working in my mom’s office when I found lots of skin care samples that had been left by reps or mailed to the office by skin care companies. They were meant to be given to patients, but there was no way that all of them could be used. I wanted to give the samples to people who didn’t have access to them. My mom has taught me that many people are suffering from skin disease and that simple skincare can really help. At the start of the pandemic, I started packing them up in little bags and delivering them to my elderly neighbors who weren’t able to leave their houses. I made sample bags of shampoos, soaps, moisturizers, and lotions. Everyone loved it and Project Skincare was born! As our foundation has grown, we have become focused on teens in need, and today we dedicate most of our time donating hygiene kits and working with other non-profits to help find teens who need our help.
